“Settimana” means week and it comes form the word “sette” (=seven) because there are seven days in a week! So, once you learn “settimana”, you will also be able to remember “sette” and “fine settimana” (=weekend). If you want to wish someone a good weekend you can say “Buon fine settimana”, although Italians understand and use the word ‘weekend’ frequently.
