It’s a Spring thing!

Moving to Canada is always tough for anyone who grew up accustomed to a milder climate! It used to be my go-to-joke that I decided to stay because I loved the weather..! The most difficult part of the Winter is not the long gloomy days in November, nor is the post holiday gray January and February months, but the never ending cold days in March and April while everyone else in Europe is posting shots of short sleeves and blooming flowers! The Italian language reflects the nicer weather in sayings that describe the nature of these Spring months. The first one is “Marzo pazzerello, guarda il sole, apri l’ombrello”, translated as “Crazy March, look at the sun and open the umbrella”, describing the unpredictability of the weather! April, on the other hand, is mellow and mild, inspiring the saying “Aprile, dolce dormire” [April, sleeping is sweet], as you can take a nice nap in a field or your patio and enjoy some lazy days!
